Forward Leonard Washington wants to remain at USC, according to sources, but was told by Trojans coach Kevin O'Neill he will not be back next season. Washington does not know where he will transfer yet, sources said, because he did not want to leave.
This is a case where O'Neill and a Tim Floyd-holdover did not mix well together and despite the fact Washington is the third-leading returning scorer, he will not be back next season.
USC forward Leonard Washington is close to transferring to another school.
``It's headed in that direction,'' Coach Kevin O'Neill said.
Does Mike Bellotti's realization that being an A.D. is a lousy job make him wish he showed more interest when USC wanted to hire him in 2001?
Former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti resigned as athletic director will join ESPN as a college football analyst. He makes his debut April 17 at Auburn's spring football game.
Did monitoring athletes getting arrested burn Bellotti out that fast?
ESPN draft expert Todd McShay went to USC's Pro Day last year. But this year he will not attend. He went to Florida Pro Day on Wednesday and will then go to Oklahoma (March 25), Texas (March 31) and Notre Dame (April 9).
Will Lane Kiffin visit Tennessee at all during USC's spring break to tie up loose ends or has his visa expired?
One thing I've heard recently at USC is that the Seattle Seahawks were keen to hire Jeremy Bates as offensive coordinator and wanted him to control which assistants were hired offensively instead of Pete Carroll. And this supposedly was one of the things the Seahawks told Carroll before they hired him.
Now I find it hard to believe anyone wanted Bates to do anything, but the theory is designed to explain why Pat Ruel never made it to Seattle and why Bates handpicked his offensive assistants.
In order to believe this theory, I would need to know if any Seahawks executives met Bates. If they did, than it would be impossible to believe he would have such control.
Some questions about Jeremy Bates, who we've ignored since he left.
And back to the forum answers, brought to you by Esquire Magazine, which loves Lane Kiffin.
Rod Dedeaux (coach), Bill Seinsoth, Stan Charnofsky, Wes Rachels, Bob Lillis, Bud Hollowell, Jason Lane, Ron Fairly, Geoff Jenkins, Fred Lynn, Russ McQueen and Roy Smalley were nominated for the CWS Legends team to honor the final year of the College World Series will be played at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb.

An Oregon question surfaces here.
Here's an article that mentions former USC wide receiver Vidal Hazelton and current receiver Kyle ``Parker.''

We continue today's Answerfest.
Former USC assistant coach Gib Arnold is among a group of confirmed interviewees for the Hawaii job.
We're answering questions while still wondering why USC turned down that women's NIT bid.
There was no post-game handshake when USC and Hawaii concluded their four-game series on Monday in Honolulu. Hawaii was upset that USC tried to steal third with a 7-0 lead and then a Hawaii pitcher threw behind USC batter Joe De Pinto. Things were tense for awhile but no altercation took place.
We asked for non-football questions in the GA (Girls Aloud) forum last month, so here's some answers. Just one Girls Aloud-themed question in this segment.
With spring practice a couple weeks away, there is already a difference with the new regime because offseason workouts are definitely considered more difficult than in the past. With that improvement, the next question area is coaching? Will that be better? Maybe. Maybe not.
And what about leadership? That was Pete Carroll's speciality. It probably wasn't too hard to improve upon his coaching staff but motivating and leading to his level will be the difficult factors.
For several years now, USC's declined to participate in the women's basketball NIT. This seems odd year-after-year and even more so this season because with a young team that could use experience, a post-season tournament makes sense.
Not to mention that one of the reasons for building that nice, new arena on Figueroa is to actually stage events. But hey, what do I know?
DirecTV is carrying the Versus Network again, which means everyone who watches Pac-10 football, hockey or bad movies can celebrate.
There is a growing feeling among some within the Hawaii athletic dept. that former USC assistant Gib Arnold will be the next basketball coach.
USC coach Lane Kiffin's moved wide receiver Jordan Cameron to tight end, the first position change since Kiffin was named head coach. The move comes because Blake Ayles remains out with a knee injury, which leaves Rhett Ellison as the only true tight end for spring practice.
USC's women's basketball declined a chance to play in the NIT tonight. So the season is over for the Trojans.
USC did not make the NCAA women's basketball tournament. The Trojans' RPI was 41, which is not a lock to make it. The season-ending loss to UCLA might have cost USC its bid.
Esquire magazine is running a contest for, ``sexiest woman alive?'' One of the candidates is Lane Kiffin.
The USC women's basketball team will find out at 4 p.m. if it makes the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans are expected to receive a bid but you never know until the pairings are announced.
The father of Seantrel Henderson told CBS Sports his son would sign a letter of intent with USC.
Here's the list of players on the Wooden Award ballot. Only one Pac-10 player (Cal's Jerome Randle) made the list.
Here's my ballot in the Associated Press college basketball poll.
Oregon State, the defending CBI champion, was invited (and accepted) to play in this year's prestigious 16-team field. Here's the full bracket:
Sophomore first baseman Ricky Oropesa was 5 for 5 and the Trojans moved above .500 for the season (8-7).
USC coach Kevin O'Neill was on KCBS-TV's post-Selection Sunday show in Los Angeles. Two of the names being floated for the remaining assistant coaching position are former Drake and Sacramento State coach Tom Abatemarco and former Boston Celtics assistant coach John Carroll.
``I'm considering a lot of people right now,'' O'Neill said.
Ben Mount pitched a complete game and struck out 8 as the Trojans won the second game of the four-game series. USC is now 7-8 overall.
Apparently, Rick Neuheisel spoke to the UCLA women's basketball team at halftime of their victory over USC. So that's why he didn't speak to the crowd. Did he tell the basketball team, ``Make no mistake we're not going to rest until we being back the Pac-10 championship, the Rose Bowl championship and a national championship.''
And it's a wrap from the Galen Center. Ashley Corral led USC with 15 points but the Trojans shot only 33 percent while the Bruins shot 43 percent.
The Bruins are up with 6 seconds left. USC missed four straight shots in the final stretch.
USC safety Jawanza Starling makes his first career start in center field tonight for the Trojans in Hawaii.
The Trojans take their first lead of the half. Ashley Corral's got 15 points, all on 3 pointers.
The Trojans are back to within one after a basket by Christina Marinacci with 12:35 left.
The Trojans are shooting 22 percent while the Bruins are at 53 percent with 2:09 left. Aarika Hughes has 7 points and Ashley Corral 6 for USC.
We've got 6:41 left in the first half at the Galen Center, so if you are in the neighborhood, come say hi to Rick Neuheisel.
UCLA football coach Rick Neuheisel is at the Galen Center watching the USC-UCLA game. Any chance he will make another fiery halftime speech like he did at Pauley Pavilion?
The Trojans and Bruins are tipping off at the Galen Center. Don't forget those valuable Gauntlet points are at stake, even though no one is keeping track so far this year.
How do you get a USC-UCLA game where the Bruins and Trojans cheerleaders are allowed in the other teams' building? Only at the Pac-10 Tournament, where the Bruin cheerleaders are at the Galen Center today.
USC coach Kevin O'Neill said he ``leaning toward'' hiring Tony Miller as an assistant coach. Miller is currently the strength and conditioning coach. O'Neill said he would not hire another assistant until April.
