A couple positional things
UCLA will give Nick Ekbatani the first shot at right tackle, with Mike Harris behind him. However, Bruins OL coach Bob Palcic said Ekbatani will also workout as a backup center.
John Hale is getting the first look at strong side linebacker, but Akeem Ayers is right behind him, according to defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker.
Walker added that Kyle Bosworth was moved from strong side linebacker to weak side linebacker, and leads Josh Edwards in that competition. But if Edwards plays well, Walker said he can slide him ahead of Hale and Ayers one the strong side.
Also, Rahim Moore seems to be the favorite to start the first game at strong safety with Bret Lockett suspended for the first game.

Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Hey, Nick, you got your quarterback's blind side, so you are the man. Not to place added presure on you or anything.
And the beginning of football practices reminds me of the commencement of spring. The thaw is over (in places other than Southern California), hope is eternal, life is beginning anew, the coaches are agush with optimism, the players feel they will be all-world, and every football team feels it has a real chance of success.
Until after the first game! And then the reality of their season (and eternal high gas prices) sets in.
