Visnovsky clarifications
Just to clarify a couple things...Lubomir Visnovsky has a no-movement clause in his new contract, which is due to kick in on July 1. That runs until 2012, when it turns into a limited no-trade clause. Also, Visnovsky's actual salary next season is $7 million, but his salary-camp number (contract dollars divided by years) is $5.6 million.

So what's the difference between a No movement and a NO trade clause?
No-movement clauses also protect against waivers and minor-league demotions.
$7 MILLION
Are you kidding me.
That Kevin Lowe is a real SUCKER.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lowe gets fired because of this.
He just made DL look like a genius. Which isn't easy.
If another GM was being offered Lubo for 2 good players.
He'd hang up the phone.
So Visnovsky was 2 days away from COMPLETELY controlling where he played until, at the earliest, 2012. Do you think there is any repercussion to this? I mean if Dean is negotiating with someone like say Greene who has a current deal, and offers an extension with a NTC, Greene better wait till July 1 of the next year before enrolling his kids in school here. With the Super8/Cloutier deal and this one .. will there be any buzz that LA plays hardball with their own?
I mean bottom line this has got to really be a last minute let-down for Visnovsky, who a year ago thought he solidified is status in LA until 2012.
A week ago, based on some things I heard, I commented that I thought there was a strong possibility we would pick up Orpik as a FA. That idea got shot down by more than a few people who no doubt know a lot more than me about these things. But now I'm reading posters talking about that possibility. Did I miss some new information? Because I really would love him in a Kings sweater.
Am I the only one that thinks DL got fleecedÉ I live near Edmonton and watch many Oiler games. Stoll is absolute garbage. The Kings pick up another band-aid that to me, is a locker room cancer
Thanks, Lubo, for some great years. Even with the problems he had last season, it certainly wasn't for lack of effort. I'll be rooting for him in Edmonton, and I think he'll do extremely well on the great ice there.
I've always liked Stoll, but I don't know much about Greene. Still it's hard to see how you trade a #2 or #3 defenseman for a third line center and someone who couldn't beat out Grebeshkov for ice time.
Rich, I believe you're wrong on this one.
11.8(a) of the CBA..
If the Player is Traded or claimed on Waivers prior to the no-Trade or no-move clause taking effect, the clause does not bind the acquiring Club. An acquiring Club may agree to continue to be bound by the no-Trade or no-move clause, which agreement shall be evidenced in writing to the Player, Central Registry and the NHLPA, in accordance with Exhibit 3 hereof.
Don't go expecting a big return for Visnovsky, what else would you expect for a d-man with a $5.6 million cap hit and a possible NTC?
We have got good players back in return, they aren't superstars but we already have enough top line potential players. What we need is some good role players who do their job effieciently
His NTC is now VOID
what is it about the two guys we got that is appealing to anyone? from their stats, they look like 2 more below average players we grabbed to free up a little money. dont really recall ever reacall seeing them play, so i guess they never impressed.
Greene has 1 goal and like 12 assists in 3 seasons. haha Good luck on that and he's prone to making stupid penalties at bad times.
GOod luck with that so called good player for your top 5 scoring defenceman.
Also consider that Vish won't be wearing his favorite #17 in Edmonton...due to Kurri's retired jersey hanging high in their rafters...
