RENO, Nev. -- Brett Favre withdrew Wednesday from the American Century Celebrity

The former Green Bay Packers quarterback will miss the July 11-13 tournament at the Edgewood

said.
"We didn't get any reason for it. It is a scheduling conflict that we don't have details on,"
Griffith said during a conference call. "We are hopeful he can attend next year."
Nearly 80 sports stars and entertainers have pledged to play in the celebrity tournament,
including Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Dennis Miller, Ray Romano, Mario Lemieux, Jerry Rice
and Donald TrumpZZTO.
In addition to defending champion Chris Chandler, the past and present quarterbacks in the

Green, Neil Lomax, Jim McMahon, CarsonZZTOZZPT Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, Ben
Roethlisberger, Tony Romo, Mark Rypien, Vinny Testaverde, Joe Theismann and Billy Joe
Tolliver.
New to the tournament this year will be NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett, sports announcer Joe Buck,
former All-Star outfielder Darryl Strawberry and 11-time national sportswriter-of-the-year Rick
Reilly.
The 54-hole tournament has been played at the 6,707-yard lakeside course since 1990 and raised
more than $3 million for charities.

the winner. NBC, which made a last-minute plea to Favre to compete, will televise the second
and final round.
