The Ultimate Game - a match play format with $1 million going to the winning team - has been canceled. Below is the press release:

THE ULTIMATE GAME
AT THE PGA WEST STADIUM COURSE

HAS BEEN CANCELED

A statement from Co-owners Steve Bartkowski and Jim Thomas:

LA QUINTA, Calif. (April 22, 2008) – “Due to the fact that many teams signed up for The Ultimate Game at The PGA West Stadium Course were unable to fulfill their commitment to pay their entry fee, we had no other choice but to cancel the event.

“In our communication with them, most teams said they were forced to withdraw largely due to an inability to secure funding in a struggling economy.

“All entry fees already paid will be returned promptly.”

The event was scheduled for April 29-May 4.
