George Lopez launches charity golf tournament

GEORGE LOPEZ LAUNCHES THE 1st ANNUAL NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC

TO BENEFIT CHILDREN

Los Angeles, April 10, 2008- George Lopez has launched the The First
Annual National Kidney Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic which will be
held Monday, May 5th at Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake, California.
The event, co-chaired by Lopez and philanthropist Stewart Rahr, will
feature participation from celebrities including Samuel L. Jackson,
Don
Cheadle, Ray Romano, Andy Garcia, Oscar De La Hoya Kevin Nealon,
Anthony
Anderson and DL Hughley.

"I'm so proud to launch this event," said Lopez. "I think we will
prove
golf is more than more than just a sport, it can be a force that helps
good causes. The celebrities participating are my friends and also
heroes of mine. I deeply thank them, along with our sponsors for their
believing in this cause."

The funds raised from this event will support programs such as the
Children and Teen Camping Program, which allows children and teens
suffering with kidney disease to attend a fun-filed week at camp,
Kidney
Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) which screens those individuals at
high
risk for kidney disease due to high blood pressure, diabetes or a
family
history of kidney disease so that they may prevent or significantly
delay the onset of the disease. The funds additionally support the
Pediatric Education Conference designed by pediatric nephrologists and
renal professionals to provide information and support to children and
families affected by kidney disease.

"The National Kidney Foundation is a charity that is very personal to
me
because I suffered with chronic kidney disease for most of my life,
although I was unaware of it" said Lopez. "I understand what it is
like
for the 26 million Americans suffering with kidney disease. It's even
more difficult if you are a child. The classic is a small way to bring
attention to the cause and raise funds for those in need."

In 2005, Lopez received a kidney transplant from his wife Ann. Since
then, the Lopez family has served as spokespeople for the National
Kidney Foundation.

"George and his wife Ann have been remarkable champions for those
suffering with kidney disease," said Linda Small, Executive Director
of
the National Kidney Foundation." George serves as a role model for all
of us because he has utilized his passions in golf and entertainment
to
better the lives of others to whom he so keenly identifies."

Tee-off for the classic is 11:00 AM. The event will conclude with a
dinner, entertainment program and awards presentation.
