Mark Christopher Charity Classic comes to end

The Mark Christopher Charity Classic in Rancho Cucamonga will not be on the Nationwide Tour schedule next year because it failed to obtain a title sponsor, the tournament director said. The press release follows.

INLAND EMPIRE OPEN ANNOUNCES

END OF 14-YEAR RUN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. (Dec. 21, 2007) – The Inland Empire Open, a non-profit

organization that conducts the local Nationwide Tour professional golf tournament known as the

Mark Christopher Charity Classic, announced today that the tournament will not occur in 2008.

Stephen Wagner, executive director for what was the Inland Empire’s largest professional

golf event, said the decision to end the event came down to the lack of a title sponsor.

The 2007 Mark Christopher Charity Classic, presented by The County of San Bernardino, raised a

record $261,797.68 from its events and activities for charity.

In the event’s 14-year history, the Inland Empire Open, Inc. raised $1,656,390.68 for

charitable entities ranging from primary beneficiary Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, various

literacy programs, homeless shelters and area high school golf teams.
