Scott Proctor to have season-ending elbow surgery

| | Comments (4) |

When it became clear he wasn't going to be activated at any point in this postseason, he decided to go ahead with a procedure he knew he was going to eventually need anyway. It will happen on Wednesday, the morning of Game 5. He will have a partial tear of his flexor tendon repaired and a bone spur shaved of the back of the elbow. He is expected to be ready for spring training. He is four-plus arbitration-eligible who avoided a hearing last winter by agreeing at $1.115 million. He had a 6.05 ERA in 38 2/3 innings spanning 41 appearances during the regular season.

Tony... there's an enormous amount of empty seats on the reserved level behind home plate. What gives with all the empty seats there? They just said on FOX that this was a Dodger Stadium attendance record. I realize the record is set on the amount of tickets sold... but to have that many empty seats in such a prime location during an NLCS game is weird.

Great job by Kuroda... let's hold 'em Cory Wade!!

I wondered about those seats too. Were those reserved for extra media?

Also, the emergence of Cory Wade sure makes it easier to cut ties with Proctor this off-season. Wade guy wasn't even seriously in the mix during spring training but impressed us all with his rookie season, posting a 2.27 ERA in 55 appearances. In the postseason he's now pitched 6 innings against the Cubs and Phills and given up just 1 run.

There IS an auxiliary press box on the reserved level behind home plate. That is the reason for the empty seats. That's pretty standard at these big events, especially in parks where the main press box is really small, as it is at Dodger Stadium.
