Going out on a budget - recession busters

| | Comments (3) |

empty_wallet.jpgIt's impossible to eliminate spending on entertainment when times are tough. But you can find lots of free and cheap parties and events on Going.com, which has listings for 30 cities across the country.

Find your city, (here is the one for Los Angeles) and look for a link that says "recession busters."

In LA, the frugal parties include a magazine cover release party, a talk on the West and Islam, and a music performance at a lounge. Some of the events are free when you RSVP, others have a reduced cost.

You can search for events by type, cost, time of day, and date. Non-members can browse a good deal of the site before having to register. RSVP'ing requires you to share your name, email, age and sex. Joining is free.

Thanks, Sean!

Just to a reminder to readers: Julia had previously posted on the great website www.experiencela.com.
You can sign up for a weekly email newsletter which usually has a common theme each week, but it's the calendar with so many choices that makes it a money saver, you filter events by Free Admission and find so many things each week--
If you've checked it out, you know what I mean. If you haven't you owe it to yourself, your wallet, and your friends (isn't it more fun to share things with others?) to see what's listed.
Enjoy!

Another great place for discount tickets (we've used alot) is Goldstar.com. Tickets to various events are discounted 50%. We've taken tours of LA, Farmers Market & 3rd Street. We're going to see Spring Awakening tonight at the Ahmanson. All through Goldstar. I highly recommend it.
